退休生活不留白

            Born  in Thanland, my nephew on my father's side never visited Taiwan.    Last

            Thursday,  I was told   that  he would come to Taiwan on business on July 19.  To

            show our warmth  and enthusiasm, we went to the airport to meet him. Since we

            had never seen each other, I made   a card with his name on it. It was the first time

            I did things like this.  Interesting!   Strange  to say, I intuitively recognized him  at

            the first sight.

            出生在泰國的堂姪從未來台. 上週四我被告知他將於7月19日因公訪台. 為表達

            熱忱我們至機場接機. 由於未曾謀面 我製作了姓名卡片. 第一次這樣做 還真有趣.

            說也奇怪 在第一眼我就直覺地認出他來. 

            Aran teaches in the university and is now the department head. He was invited

            here   to  attend  a  meeting and academic exchange.   Frankly, I am proud of him.  

            What   pleasantly   surprised us was that my cousin was elected as the senator of

            the upper  house   in Thanland.     As a member of the Han family,   I feel highly

            honored.

            瑤光在大學任教 擔任系主任.  此次受邀參與學術會議及交流.  坦白地說

            我以他為榮. 更讓我們驚喜的是：堂哥已經被選為上議院的參議員. 身為

            韓家的成員 感覺與有榮焉.

                Aran  could only spend one and a half days doing sightseeing in Taipei.

                The first place I introduced to him was the highest build in the world

                Taipei 101 ,which is regarded as  the landmark  of Taipei. 

                瑤光僅有一天半的時間停留在台北參觀.  我介紹的第一個景點是世界

                最高的台北101. 這也是台北地標.

                 The instrument which looks like a cake is used to prevent the shake of the

                 earthquake. It is several stories high.

                  風阻尼器狀似蛋糕. 它用來防震. 有好幾層樓高.

                 On the floor were  some specially created effects. Sounds like we walked on the

                 other planets. It seemed strange, wonderful and unlikely.  What a fantastic

                 design!

                 地面上是科技特殊效果. 感覺像是走在外星球上. 奇妙的設計.           

           To taste the delicate food , we went to Ding-tai-feng for dinner.  Din-tai-feng is

           an old reataurant  but  it's world famous.  It's a must  for people from foreign

           countries.

           我們到鼎泰豐嚐美食. 鼎泰豐雖老舊 卻名聞遐邇. 是外國人必來之處.

                On July 20, we arranged a trip to the National Palace Museum  which houses

               a large number of treasured items . We wore earphones  and listened to the video

               guide. Once again I appreciated the jadeite cabbage and the meat-shaped stone

               and the carved olive-stone boat.

               7月20日我們安排故宮行參觀國家大量寶物. 我們帶著耳機聽語音導覽.

               再度欣賞翠玉白菜  肉形石 .....

            The last program was the family get-together. All my brothers and sisters and

            other  members had dinner together. We chatted  in poor English and  did   have

            a good time . 

            When will we see each other again?  Nobody knows. 

            最後一個節目是家庭聚會. 母親及所有兄弟姊妹等成員共餐. 大家以破英文

            交談. 十分愉快.

            下次何時在相見？ 沒有人知道.
